Norwegian Cruise Lines
The Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) is one of the most
consistent liners in the competitive cruising market, offering
ample amenities to attract cruisers from all backgrounds. NCL
offers reasonable, realistic cruises without the cloud of
impracticality that draws seasoned cruisers as well as the
first-timers alike.
In Europe, NCL’s innovative alternative dining, coupled with
unconventional sports offerings have given it a unique edge
amidst the competition. The company’s performance in different
segments has enhanced considerably in the last few seasons—from
the perspective of both the service and the superiority of its
ships, since it came under the ownership of the famous
Malaysian flag cruise provider, Star Cruises in 2000.
Since then, the company has completely revitalized its
cruising ideology, giving the cruisers ample options and
freedom whilst on their dream vacation onboard. This sensuous
feeling of “Freestyle cruising” has certainly attracted the
attention of the younger generation as well as the elder
couples alike. The sagacity of being given abundant personal
space, has certainly taken NCL up the ladder, in terms of
overall cruiser satisfaction. NCL has also introduced
innovation amidst all this traditional “Freestyle” ideology,
which has made it a hit among first-time cruisers of all ages
and backgrounds.
Moreover, introduction of spanking new ships in its fleet,
has also given Norwegian Cruise Line a much needed fresh
outlook, to suit its glorified ideals. The process will also be
implied on the existing ships, which will be completely
renovated to suit Star Cruises’ long term plans.
Pros
• Flexible dining regulations. Norwegian cruise line’s
dining regulations allow the cruisers ample freedom, letting
them sit anywhere and dress up as they want to. Moreover the
long dining hours allow them ample options to satiate their
hunger, only when they feel hungry.
• Sports. NCL continues to be trendsetter in terms of Sporting
provisions. No other cruise liner can boast of such an
assortment of sporting activities, ranging from playing
basketball on the upper deck to playing cards at the
bar.
• Activities. From extensive dancing lessons to basic
computer training classes, Norwegian Cruise Line is simply the
best when it comes down to activities in the European cruising
market.
Cons
• Forgettable food. Though the dining hours are quite
flexible, the quality of dining is certainly not of the highest
quality as compared to other cruise liners. If you are craving
for the ultimate sophistication, then you’ll feel disappointed
on the way back to the cabin.
• Service quality. Though the service quality is at times
pretty good, the inconsistency in living up to the cruisers’
expectations, is certainly a road block for NCL’s progress.
THE
FLEET
Norwegian Cruise
Lines fleet has undergone a series of innovative
makeovers in the last few seasons. Currently, its fleet is
most noted for the attractive megaships including:
- Norwegian Sky
- Norwegian Sun

The Norwegian Dream, though is not quite as
sophisticated in terms of amenities, and structural prowess as
the others, yet, it is a real hit among the first time cruisers
as well as the younger cheerful batch of cruising fanatics.
